Our culinary tour takes you on a journey through Northern Estonia’s manor houses, breweries, and distilleries where history, local craftsmanship, and flavours meet.
The route includes stops at the MOE Visitor Centre, Tulivee Experience Centre, and the manors of Vihula, Palmse, Sagadi, Saka, and Mäetaguse. Each stop uncovers the story of how alcohol has been produced and enjoyed in Estonia – from manor-made vodka to today’s craft drinks.
We’ll also explore how Estonian and Finnish alcohol cultures have intertwined – their similarities, differences, and the surprising crossroads in between. Tastings, stories, and hands-on experiences make this the perfect tour for open-minded travellers who wish to dive deeper into Estonia’s flavours and heritage. First day
1. Sagadi Manor
Start your Virumaa journey in Tallinn and head toward one of the most charming and history-rich regions in Estonia. First stop – Sagadi Manor, a standout heritage site where visitors can immerse themselves in manor life and enjoy the tranquillity of surrounding nature.
Join leisure programmes such as the Manor Spirits Bottling Workshop, where you can try your hand at making a traditional noblewoman’s drink. Younger guests can create their own special beverage in the Lady of the Manor’s lemonade workshop. Don’t forget to stroll the scenic manor grounds!

Good to know: 88 km from Tallinn. Includes a museum, lunch options, and accommodation. Programme participation recommended for a full experience. Duration 4h.
2. Vihula Manor
Located in the heart of Lääne-Virumaa, Vihula Manor offers an exceptional blend of history and nature. One of Estonia’s finest restored manorial estates, it’s a haven of elegant heritage.
Explore the manor buildings and gardens filled with historical treasures. Relax with luxurious spa treatments and sample local dishes. We highly recommend visiting the on-site Vodka Museum – open daily from 10:00–19:00 and free for overnight guests.
Vihula is the perfect place to end your first day – enjoy dinner, unwind, and rest before continuing your journey. Children can visit the eco-farm and enjoy mini-golf (for an additional fee). Duration 12h.

Second Day
3. Purtse Brewery
Day two begins at Purtse Brewery, one of Estonia’s oldest and most renowned craft beer producers. Explore the brewing process and learn the secrets behind local beer-making from passionate experts.
Enjoy a guided tasting session in the tasting room and take home your favourite brews. This stop is a must for beer lovers and curious palates alike.

4. Tulivee Restaurant & Smuggling Museum
Next, head to Tulivee – a restaurant renowned for its cosy atmosphere and gourmet dishes made from fresh local ingredients. Here, Estonian and international cuisine come together in a symphony of flavour.
Pair your meal with a fine selection of wines and enjoy a moment of relaxation. Afterwards, explore the museum that tells the story of liquor smuggling in Estonia – open daily from 11:00–18:00.

5. Saka Manor
Perched on the shores of the Baltic Sea, Saka Manor is a stunningly restored estate that blends history, nature, and luxury. Unwind in the spa, dine in style, and soak in the breathtaking coastal views.
Saka is perfect for a romantic getaway or special occasion. Discover forest trails or take a guided audio walk through the area.

6. Mäetaguse Manor
Day three begins at Mäetaguse Manor, a peaceful retreat in the heart of picturesque Ida-Virumaa. Rich in history and surrounded by beautiful parkland, this estate offers something for everyone.
Explore the manor’s restored rooms and enjoy diverse leisure activities – from disc golf and archery to picnic outings in Selisoo bog, beer-brewing workshops, and cocktail classes.

Third Day
7. MOE Museum & Visitor Centre
As the tour nears its end, stop by the MOE Museum and Visitor Centre. Set within a historical estate, the centre showcases the nature and culture of the region.
With interactive exhibits for all ages and access to nearby hiking trails, it’s a perfect blend of education and recreation. Taste, learn, and enjoy the local spirits – and perhaps stay the night in the boutique hotel.

Good to know: Spirit Museum open Tue–Sat 11:00–19:00. Free guided tour every Saturday at 12:00 (no registration needed, €7 per person). Food available only by pre-order. Accommodation. Duration 3h.
8. Palmse Manor
The final stop on the tour is Palmse Manor – one of Estonia’s most beautiful and historically significant estates. Step into 18th-century noble life as you walk through restored interiors and landscaped gardens.
Learn about manor culture, visit the tavern or pre-book a spot in one of the hands-on workshops: prepare a health tonic like a baron or enjoy a traditional tea ceremony hosted by a lady of the manor.
After your visit, it’s just a short and convenient 1.5-hour drive back to Tallinn. Duration 4h.
