Roela Cone Hut Museum

Roela Cone Hut Museum takes you back in time to discover the fascinating heritage of Estonian forestry!

The museum tells the story of everyday life in forestry through cones and seeds, and the permanent exhibition narrates the work that helped renew Estonian forests and preserve knowledge passed down from generation to generation. Here, you can learn why cones were collected, how they were dried, and why this work was important for the sustainability of the forests. The house retains original ovens and drying equipment from 1928, showing how the work was actually done.

The museum is located in a scenic area where a section of the Penijõe–Aegviidu–Kauksi hiking trail runs along the ridge, and you can walk under ancient pines and century-old spruces, enjoying the silence.

During the summer months, the museum has an information point open where you can learn about the surrounding nature and hiking trails and a café selling coffee, cake, and more substantial lunches.
