Namely, Rakvere, the county center, is just 100 km from Tallinn, and the region is quickly accessible by trains heading towards Tallinn-Narva and Tallinn-Tartu. Additionally, developing industrial areas such as Väike-Maarja, Tapa, and Viru-Nigula provide numerous opportunities for new ventures. The local governments also support the county’s business environment, laying a strong foundation for the success of enterprises.

In 2023, a significant number of economic units were registered in the county, indicating the strength of the local business environment. The strong agronomic and natural resource potential of the rural areas is reflected in the agricultural, forestry, and fishing sectors, which collectively have 900 enterprises. The construction sector also shows high activity, with 756 units, followed by wholesale and retail trade and motor vehicle repair, which has 624 businesses. The manufacturing industry is an important part of the economy as well, encompassing 422 units. Additionally, other sectors such as professional, scientific, and technical activities are represented by 455 enterprises, demonstrating the region’s diverse and balanced economic structure. All these sectors provide a solid foundation for sustainable economic growth in Lääne-Viru County.

Export

The county holds a strong position in goods exports, reaching €551 million in 2023. This result highlights the success and competitiveness of local businesses in international markets. Lääne-Viru County is not only an important industrial region but also a significant exporter, reinforcing the strength and development potential of the local economy.
